Today I watched a private video post between myself and another individual on Seesmic, and what she had to say about motherhood is a gem I can’t pass up not sharing. I transcribed some of what she had to say. Please read it with an open mind.

Not often do two major parts of my life (international adoption and kidney disease) cross paths, but this news article out of Canada speaks to my heart (and kidney) in more than one way.

Regardless if you’re pro or anti-adoption, this article is worth reading, and is especially important for those of you who are internationally adoptive parents (or potential parents.)

McCain’s new VP candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, didn’t mention her daughter’s pregnancy in her RNC speech last night. IMHO, neglecting to mention [her daughter's personal business] was appropriate.
Likewise, if she HAD mentioned [her feelings about becoming a grandmother], it would’ve been equally appropriate.

Commonwealth Adoptions, based out of Tucson, AZ is closing.
I feel strongly compelled to blog in defense of Commonwealth Adoptions International, or to at least offer my opinion about the agency as they were in 1999-2000 when they facilitated my son’s adoption.

By it’s nature, blogging is dramatic, selfish, mean-spirited and oftentimes hurtful. Let’s face it, not everyone is going to agree with your (or my) opinion, and if you read it (or write it) chances are you’ll have your feelings hurt at some point.

Today one of my archived blog posts is featured over a Blog Nosh (magazine) in the Pregnancy/Birth/Adoption channel. I feel famous!
“Blog Nosh Magazine is an online magazine dedicated to promoting the best archived posts from your own personal blogs. “
Thank you Marcie from A Child Chosen and My Two Boys for selecting one of my blog posts for Blog Nosh and complimenting me (big time!) with your comment, “Krissi is one of my favorite adoption bloggers not only because of her loud and proud adoption voice but because she says it like she sees it. I love reading about her experiences, other’s comments, and her sarcastic and flippant reactions to the public and media.”

When we adopted my son (2000) there was a fairly common (but maybe somewhat unknown?) practice of giving an internationally adopted child a “new” birth date to more suitably match his/her retarded physical/social/emotional development caused by years of institutionalization.

The authors of blogs certainly have different motives for blogging – so why do I blog?
I blog because I want to! Aside from that:
- I blog because I want to share my experience and thoughts about adopting and adoptive parenting. I write about adoption because I believe my opinions are valid and should be recognized as equal to all other adoption viewpoints.
